Please read through before buying products, requesting services, ordering commissions, etc. By commissioning me or my services, this means you have properly read, understand, and AGREE to the terms listed below.

Pricing & Payments

All base prices are subject to change based on project complexity and specific client needs. Additional fees may apply for the following:

Rush orders (delivery in less than 4 weeks): +50%
Expedited rush orders (delivery in less than 2 weeks): +100%
Additional revisions beyond the standard 3 included: +$25 per round
Online/Freebie/Promotional Use +20%
Commercial use license (non-exclusive): +50%
Exclusive commercial rights (grants full ownership and resale rights): Starting at +%100

Final quotes will be provided after project details are reviewed. I’m committed to transparent pricing and will always communicate any adjustments before proceeding.

Any rush jobs will require 100% of payment upfront.

Prices may differ for publishers.

Payment will be sent in USD
I work with 50% upfront payment and 50% upon completion.
Rushed commissions will be paid 100% upfront.

Prices may change based on desired licenses, rights, or revisions past the included 3.

Transaction fees are to be paid by the client.

Copyright and Licenses

Daystar Illustration retains complete rights to all original artwork and concepts encompassing layout, image style, placement, and fonts unless otherwise agreed upon. No one, including the client or another artist, is allowed to recreate the artwork or concept.

Daystar Illustration always retain limited rights to the cover for self-promotion, portfolio purposes, client viewing , and more.

Daystar Illustration mandates design credit in the form of "Cover Design by Daystar Illustration" or "Art by Daystar Illustration" to be included in all formats where the work is used.

You may neither sell nor exchange my art in any form, physical or digital, print or NFT, under any circumstances unless you have my express written permission AND you have paid for the rights to do so. You may not use my art in any published material, even free material, on any online or physical marketplace unless agreed upon.

AI Usage

Daystar Illustration does not consent to and prohibits any work created by them to be use to train or feed Generative Artificial Intelligence. This includes but is not limited to prints, stickers, book covers, finished pieces, sketches, works in progress, and more.

Daystar Illustration is against the usage of artificial intelligence and will not work with clients who support AI in creative fields.

If a client knowingly provides AI pictures as reference, Daystar Illustration has the right to decline the commission/project. Any deposits made will not be refunded due to a breach of contract.

If an author is revealed to be using AI in their writing, Daystar Illustration has the right to decline and/or cancel their projects. Any deposits made will be not be refunded due to a breach of contract.

Author Serivces

Author Projects are first come first serve. If you need yours completed and delivered by a specific date, let me know and I will let you know if I can get it done in time. Please reach out to me at daystarillustration@gmail.com with questions, or when you are ready to start your project.

I will respond to your email within 3-5 business days with a time estimate or additional questions. Projects usually take between 5-10 weeks, complicated projects may take more time.

If your request is complicated, we will discuss price estimates before we both commit to moving forward.

After a price is agreed on, you will be placed on the waiting list. Any price increases or sales made between the first price estimate, until the delivery of the finished product will not affect the agreed upon price of you commission.

If this is a rush project please indicate when you need the finished piece by in the appropriate section. Rush orders are subject to an additional fee.

When I am ready to start your project, I will request a non-refundable deposit which will count towards the total price. The deposit will be half of the quoted price of the commissioned piece. Progress will begin once the full deposit has been received.

Projects generally will take 5-10 weeks, unless said otherwise, providing that the client responds to emails or messages in a timely manner. I am not held accountable for missing deadlines if the client fails to respond in a timely manner.

My General Process

I will send multiple rough sketches to your preferred method of communication, any composition changes can be made at this time. Once you confirm it is to your liking I will continue onto a refined sketch.

It is up to you if you want further incremental updates. Those updates may include line art, base colors, rendering, at no additional cost.

The first two compositional revisions during the refined sketch are free, additional revisions will cost $25 per revision.

Once the project is finished, I will send an invoice for the remaining payment along with a low resolution preview of your finished piece. At this time, I will require the rest of payment. You may request a couple minor changes, at no extra cost, to the finished piece within 48 hours of it being sent. If there are any minor changes, I will complete them as soon as possible, and follow up with another low resolution preview. After I have received the full payment AND the final version is approved, then I will send the full resolution file(s).

Conditions

I will not duplicate the art style of another artist.
I will not draw:
- Intense Gore
- Offensive Content
- Mecha
- Fetishes
Deposits are non-refundable.
Once a project is started, a final product is guaranteed unless one of the following occurs:
- The client is not able to maintain a respectful relationship with the artist. This includes but is not limited to: micromanaging, badgering, offensive or inappropriate behavior, not responding to emails/messages etc.
- The client decides not to continue with the commission.
I maintain the right to discontinue a commission at any time within reason.
All delays will be communicated via email or preferred method of communication.
Once the project has been approved and payment is sent, there are no refunds.
I reserve the right to post projects on social media, use in my portfolio, and for other promotional material. But will not do so before the Author has revealed their project on their own platforms.

Clients are prohibited from feeding any finished pieces, sketch, or works in progress to Generative Artificial Intelligence. In turn if a client knowingly submits a AI image as a reference, Daystar Illustration has the right to cancel the commission. No deposits will be returned.

Character Commissions
